Early this morning at 00:40 hours, your Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers were dispatched to MM 19.0 S/B on I-476, the Blue Route for the report of a vehicle accident with entrapment. The Montgomery County 911 center indicated they were receiving multiple calls for a Septa bus that had gone off the road way, down an embankment and was now flipped onto its side with occupants possibly trapped. Engine, Squirt and Battalion Chief 43 all made the response and upon arrival confirmed 1 Septa Bus on it side into the woods. Due to the positioning of the bus, the operator was found confined inside but did not appear entangled. The crew of Engine 43 immediately went into service and with the assistance of Septa personnel already on scene assisted the operator out of the overturned bus and turned them over to awaiting EMS. Command marked the rescue complete within the first 10 minutes. Due to the multiple calls this incident generated and a secondary vehicle collision in the same area as units went responding, Battalion 43 requested the assistance of the Harmonville Fire Company No.1 to the scene. Rescue, Squad, Traffic and Chief 44 all responded and assisted as needed upon arrival. The incident was turned over to the law enforcement agencies on scene and station 43 was clear and available by 01:30 hours. |
