This evening Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers along with members of the Conshohocken Fire Company No. 2 were recognized by the Plymouth Township Council during their August monthly business meeting for their combined rescue efforts on the scene of a water rescue this past June.
Back on June 9th, stations 43 and 55 responded to the 1200 block of Conshohocken Road in Plymouth Township for the report of a vehicle stuck in high moving flood waters with 1 occupant trapped inside. As fire department units arrived the quick rising water had completely overtaken the vehicle submerging it along with its occupant under the water. Rescue swimmers from Plymouth and Conshohocken with the assistance of several rescue personnel on shore quickly entered the water where they safely extricated the trapped victim, getting them safely back on dry land to the care of awaiting EMS.
Plymouth Township Council read out a resolution commending the fire companies for their efforts. Following the presentation, Plymouth Fire Chief John Heleniak distributed the following commendations to the rescuers that were on scene:
