If Monday wasn't busy already your Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers and career staff were dispatched at 14:58 hours to assist the Conshohocken Fire Department on a fire alarm activation on the unit block of W. 3rd Avenue.
Squirt and Battalion Chief 43 responded and assumed the second due engine company responsibilities positioning at the hydrant and corner to the fire department connection of the building. Crews on the interior from Quint 55 located a heavy smoke condition on the top floor/roof area. Command upgraded the incident to a building fire and requested the working fire dispatch.
The crew of Squirt 43 made their way into the interior with their high rise bundles while the operator connected and charged the hydrant and connected into the FDC. The engine companies quickly knocked down the fire while arriving truck companies assisted with evacuating residents and sheltering lower floors in place.
Command placed the fire under control within the hour, station 43 remained on scene assisting with ventilation before being released just after 16:00 hours. |
