At 15:49 hours this afternoon, the Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers were dispatched along with the George Clay Fire Company and Radnor Fire Company of Delaware County to the off ramp from I-476 Northbound of the Blue Route to Matsonford Road for a vehicle accident with entrapment.
Squad 43 with a crew of 4 responded and arrived along with Squad 39 and Delco Engine 15 to find an SUV on its side and confirmed 1 patient entrapped. The crew from Squad 43 immediately went into service stabilizing the vehicle with their Paratech Rescue struts. Once stabilized, the crew put the Hurst E-Draulic Cutters in service along with personnel from Engine 15 to perform a roof flap to extricate the patient who was then transferred to the care of awaiting EMS. Squirt and Battalion 43 also made the response and assisted on scene with their manpower.
Command marked the rescue complete within 15 minutes and units remained on scene controlling hazards. Our thoughts go out to those affected by this incident for a full and speedy recovery! Station 43 were made available just before 17:00 hours.
While not its maiden voyage this was Squad 43's first rescue since being placed into service a little over 48 hours ago! |
