Yesterday afternoon your Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43) volunteers were dispatched to the 200 block of Saulin Boulevard in Upper Merion Township to assist the Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS department on a reported building fire.
Station 56 units while originally responding to a fire alarm activation arrived to find smoke showing from a 1 story recycling center. With this report the incident was upgraded to a building fire and Rescue 43 was requested on the working fire dispatch as the Rapid Intervention Team.
Rescue and Chief 43 responded with a crew of 4 and stood by as the RIT company for the duration of the incident. UMTFD units along with several mutal aid companies placed a master stream and several handlines in service to bring a large trash pit fire inside the building under control. Rescue 43 would be released from the scene just after 17:00 hours.
